Pulling into camp and setting up
Best setup for parking
For a comfy sleep it’s best to plan ahead when pulling into your camp spot. The sleeping arrangements are designed to have your head up the end of the roof top tent on the passenger side (left hand side) of the camper so keep this in mind if you’re parking up on a slight slope. You want to have your head at the high side of the slope so angle the car with the passenger side (left side) slightly higher if you’re forced to park on uneven ground.
Setting up the awning
Check the weather conditions first and if it’s not too windy then unzip the awning cover and unfold the arms. Use the adjustable ratchet cord to secure both ends of the awning around the roof racks, being sure to keep the foam protector over the boot section to avoid scratching or wearing on the car.
Adjust the poles for extra support and peg down the awning with the cords and pegs for additional protection from wind.
Setting up camp
There’s a collapsible table for placing your cooker on. Camp chairs are provided with the hire with black ones for adults and orange and blue ones for kids
Packing up
Before driving please check the following:
- Rooftop tent is closed and all of the fabric is tucked in properly and not hanging out the sides
- All loose items are stored away
- Awning is packed away properly in the awning bag
Packing up the awning
Release the adjustable cord that secures the awning to the drivers side of the camper. The awning will fold in neatly. Start by folding away the two arms at the front of the car and then fold away the two rear arms. Roll the awning material up tightly and lock away with the velcro straps
Returning the Camper
Washing
Please remove excess mud and dirt from the exterior before returning. Small amount of general driving bugs, dirt and dust is fine but if there’s excessive dirt (thick red dirt dust) and mud all over the camper please give it quick spray down with a high pressure water gun at a car wash (do not try to clean it with a drive through car wash as you’ll damage the rooftop tent).
Refueling
The car is to be returned with a full tank of 95 or 98 unleaded petrol.
Damage
Please report any damage to the exterior, interior or equipment during the hand over when dropping the van off. Reimbursement of the cost of repairs will be quoted and payment can be arranged once reviewed
Drop off time
Drop off time is flexible but if returning the van directly to Vamuz III location we try to keep this between 6am and 9pm. Please arrange a time with plenty of warning.
